Recovery and Collections Specialist UAE
We’re looking for a Recovery and Collections Specialist to join our Operations team in the UAE. The ideal candidate is a tenacious and proactive problem solver with great communication skills, who will relish being the driving force behind our efforts to recover outstanding receivables from our users, including being the main point of contact for those who have fallen behind with their payments.
As a Recovery and Collections Specialist, you will:
Manage the early arrears portfolio, tracking outstanding amounts, and contacting users in early arrears using a range of methods, both written and verbal, to understand and validate the reasons for missed payments
Negotiate, implement and monitor repayment solutions with users in arrears that take into account the user’s circumstances whilst optimising recovery for Nomod
Working closely with our legal teams, follow up and escalate recovery steps where appropriate, including assisting with preparation of escalation materials and submissions, input into recovery strategy, ongoing negotiations, etc,
Analyse account activity, identify patterns, and provide feedback to help improve our underwriting model to minimise future arrears
Work closely with our Risk team to augment account reviews and communicate with users as part of this process
Assist the Support team with triaging and responding to user queries where required
Be on the frontline of engagement with the many merchants that rely on Nomod for their businesses, interacting with them face to face, over the phone, over email, and via live chat in the future
Support merchants in managing and challenging disputes and chargebacks
Work with an agile, globally distributed team and be able to harness constructive feedback

You do not need to be intimately familiar with any of the technologies that we work with. Great people are effective at quickly learning what we use or introduce us to new ways of working.
Having said that, we think a Recovery and Collections Specialist should:
Be educated to at least degree level or equivalent
Have previous experience in a customer support, recovery and collections role, ideally in a consumer tech or financial services environment
Have exceptional written and verbal skills in English. If you’re bi or trilingual in Arabic, Hindi or Urdu, that would be incredible
Be tenacious, persistent, resilient and comfortable asking challenging questions in the face of pushback from users
Love diving deep into investigations based on a user’s story utilising an array of tools
Enjoy building relationships with people, an ability to quickly build rapport, have excellent interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
Be comfortable making high value, and sometimes emotionally difficult decisions, often without perfect information
Have obsessive attention to detail while also being able to spot the bigger picture
Have lots of energy, be proactive, think quickly and revel in solving problems
Chrome, Gmail, Google Docs, and similar web tools are second nature
Be creative, innovative, and data driven
Deliver no matter what it takes
Have the ability to thrive in a fully remote, distributed organisation
Be lots of fun to work with!
Prior experience at a high growth startup or at an established fintech firm
Collections and recovery experience with a Middle East based firm or clientele
Fluency in other languages in addition to English
Experience working with a remote, global, multicultural team
